Engine rebuilt in 2013, during a frame off restoration. Re-bored 1mm over (1045cc) Wiseco 10:1 pistons.
Heads ported by Cavanagh racing.
28mm Mikuni VM Carbs.
Dyna Coil ignition.
Ikon Rear shocks.
US optional dual front brakes, with calipers forward (screen accurate detail)
All brake calipers rebuilt during Goose build.
Lester Wheels, 19” front/18” rear. Powder coated to match paint. (tough to find).
Exhaust system are replica Denstall Decibel mufflers. Not screen accurate, but I like the sound. Crossover pipes are very difficult to source.
Speedo in KM (replica) and side badges Z1000. (Screen accurate details)
Bodywork and decals purchased from Mad Max Cars - the best available.
Subframe custom made. This took more time than any other part of the build.
Paint and body work by Louis Feliz, Sparks Nevada. It took an artist to get the 70’s vintage fade, and he nailed it.
MFP radio from Australia. It looks like the movie radio and plays sound clips and the MFP Chatter cd.
Comes with show board, describing the bike. We went to one show and I was shocked how many people went crazy over seeing “The Goose”.
Included in the sale are the original parts, should you ever want to convert it back to a stock KZ. Tank (Maroon), body work, seat, complete spoke wheels, original handlebars, and a box of assorted spares. You could probably sell all these parts for a couple grand, should you choose.
Two MFP Goose Helmets included, along with a jacket. (Abbyshot XL).
Comments:
The desire to have a Mad Max “Goose Bike” was something in my mind since I was 16, and saw Mad Max for the first time. In 2015 everything seemed to line up. I found a proper 1977 KZ1000A, the fairings were available from Mad Max cars, and all the other parts should be easy. I estimated completion in six months. Well, seven years later it was done. Parts were sourced seven different countries and every detail was derived from movie screen shots. Quite a humbling experience. Some compromises were reluctantly made, but the finished result exceeded my expectations. The asking price is based on what the last two bikes of this quality sold for. I have quite a bit more into it, but I didn’t put it together to make money. It was because it’s so freakin’ cool.Still, please don’t expect to beat me up on price. If you think it’s too much, I invite you to build one yourself.
This bike is located near Reno Nevada. Shipping is your responsibility, but I might be willing to deliver on the West Coast. I’d hate to see shippers damage it in transit, plus there are extra boxes of parts and gear included.
