The first ever replica Humungus Machine from Mad Max 2 "The Road Warrior". The Humungus Machine was the war chariot driven by the leader of the marauders; Lord Humungus. With only basic automotive knowledge (but a fanatical devotion to the film) Dave tore apart his base vehicle and rebuilt it from the ground up.
Modifications include a gas fill pipe that runs through one of the 55 gallon drums, an Australian left handed shifter, a huge nautical spotlight for a headlight, two custom shoulder axles for the extra wheels, non-functional Nitrous Oxide system, and two realistic 'prisoners' that can be tied to the front frames.
Dave built his Humungus Machine to be driven on parades and car cruises, and to be displayed at car shows. Starting with the Detroit Autorama in 2009, the Humungus Machine has been a unique addition to many conventions and car shows across the country. It has won several awards; mostly for custom work and originality. For three years Dave has trailered it down to Atlanta for the DragonCon parade. Surrounded by costumed marauders and road warriors, Dave himself would taunt the crowd through the Machine's PA system, warning them to Just Walk Away.
While it's road legality is questionable, it is undeniably roadworthy. Practically each week in the Detroit area summer there is a car cruise, and you will always find Dave driving back and forth in them. Around, and around, like angry ants... mad for the smell of guzzoline...
