Texas Shelby Nationals
Hi Guys: In short we ran three heats which are about 30 minutes each. It was a 1.7 mile track with 2 decent straights and some real nearly S curves. I raced against Mustangs, Shelby's, Pantera's (not a chance), Tiger's and other makes. I need some more handling mods but on the straights there wasn't much that could outrun it. I got it to 160 KPH in one straight and kept it in 2nd or 3rd the whole time. Could use some rear gears too! I got hot oil sprayed all over the passenger quarter panel when a Cobra replica tried to pass and he blew his engine. I had a 93 Cobra tap me on the rear when I was downshifting into a S curve. Left a nice black smudge on the bumper. Won the "Fastest Speed" trophy for Special Interest cars. Won second place in the car show the next day in the Factory Ford Muscle class. Got beat by a 65 (I think) 427 Galaxie that also won best of show.
